In October, 2011, the next general assembly of the VLPGO, an international consultative group of each country¡¯s system operation companies running more than 50 million kilowatt of very large power grid, will be held in Seoul, Korea.
The 8th annual general meeting of the VLPGO will be held in Grand Hyatt Hotel Seoul for four days from October 30th to November 2nd.
An annual general meeting of the VLPGO, which is held in October every year, is a supreme decision-making conference attended by 14 chief executive officers of member companies from 13 countries such as the PJM of the United States(the electric power system operation company in the U.S. northeast area such as Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Massachusetts) and the RTE of France. That is why the conference is also called ¡°the G-14 summit of electric power system sector.¡±
During this conference, a large number of the supreme members of each company will attend and share the results of the operations of the affiliated working groups. In addition, they plans to announce relevant plans. It is expected that joint and cooperation business will be suggested at this conference. In particular, a joint statement is projected to be adopted which stipulates that all companies will cooperate for smart grid, a vision for the electricity industry.
The meeting will be conducted with an additional event of the smart grid industry exhibition. Multinational companies like ABB, GE and Alstom, as well as 11 Korean firms like the KDN of KEPCO, LS Industrial System Co., and Hyundai Heavy Industry will submit for the exhibition.
On October 31, the participants will visit Samsung Electronics Co. and the National Control Center, and on November 2, the last day of the conference, they will visit the Jeju smart grid complex as well.
Kim Woo-sun, leader of the system engineering team of the KPX said that this conference would serve as an opportunity for Korea to confirm its leading status in the smart grid part, and for the KPX to consolidate its international prestige. In addition, Kim said, ¡°I will do my best to finish the conference successfully with perfect preparations.¡±
