KPX engages in extensive exchanges of information and opinion with electric power industry organizations in other countries on issues concerning the electric power industry and energy. As a means of maintaining ties with key people and organizations, it participates in many conferences in the electric power and energy sectors held in Korea and abroad, including the regular conferences and other meetings.
KPX is promoting face-to-face exchange with main organizations in the electric utility industries by holding regular meetings. KPX signed a cooperative agreement concerning exchanges with PJM in 2007 in which the two parties agreed to discuss the management issues and exchange technical information to contribute to the mutual development of their countries' electric power industries. PJM and KPX began conducting regular visits to each other in 2007. MOU concerning collaborative actions to advance in smart grid was also signed in 2009. The 6th regular exchange was convened during 2011 in Seoul in November.
KPX carried out information and technical exchanges with such organizations as ESCJ and KYUSHU EPCO through regular meetings. These meetings mainly offer technical guidance with respect to such issues as improved system-operation reliability and efficiency. Starting in 2006, KPX held technical meetings with ESCJ in 2007, 2008, 2011, and 2012, and attended symposiums in 2009 and 2010. Also, KPX has held 12 meetings with KYUSHU EPCO since signing an agreement in 2005.
Furthermore, KPX actively participates as a member in various global forums. KPX has participated in APEx(World Association of Power Exchanges) conference in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019. Since 2022, KPX has also been actively involved in ISGAN (International Smart Grid Action Network). Additionally, KPX annually participates in GO15(the global forum of the 14 largest power grid operators and formerly known as VLPGO). KPX will serve as the chair for 2025, hosting the annual meeting in Korea.
KPX also takes part in various international conferences. It has consistently attended the CIGRE since 2012, a technical conference involving about 90 countries and related institutions. KPX has also participated in the International Symposium on Forecasting, ISF, a major academic conference on power demand forecasting in North America and Europe, in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
